Take a Yo-Yo

Then imagine scaling it up to become the BIGGEST YO-YO ON THE PLANET!

Thats what the Computer Aided Design team at Bay College in Escanaba is currently building in the hope to set the record for the world’s largest yo-yo. They have some experience with big, last year setting the record for the worlds largest golf tee and previous to that building a 26ft skateboard.
The current world record was set back in 1993 at 10 feet, 5 inches. This yo-yo under construction now is 11ft 6 inches in diameter and weights about 1600lb!
The total cost of the project is about $11,000 also making this one of the most expensive yo-yos ever made! After hearing about this project YoYoFactory jumped on board as a major sponsor but they are still looking for donations and if you have the space, are offering the yo-yo for sale (if you are interested you can email the project co-ordinator Ryan Fairbanks)
The CAD team expects to complete construction of the yo-yo by mid-June with plans to attempt the record early July (weather permitting).
